What does the group
do?
The group
provides an introduction to Digital Photography and is five sessions
long. No experience is assumed. See the syllabus below.
Level of expertise the
group is aimed at
Novice digital
camera users.
Meetings
Tuesdays fortnightly, 10.00am - noon or 2.30 - 4.30pm. Courses are run when there is
sufficient demand.
Venue
The group meets at a private home in Yapton.
Equipment needed
Digital camera
and manual. A computer is very useful but not essential.
Costs
5p per
sheet for handouts; nominal amount for refreshments.

Digital Photography Course Syllabus
1. Pros. and cons. of film versus digital cameras.
Resolution, latency, immediacy, storage, batteries, cost.
2.
Setting up the camera.
File
type and size, Autofocus and settings, Zoom, Aperture and shutter
speed, White balance, Flash settings.
3.
Important extras – and useful extras.
Rechargeable batteries, spare cards, camera case, and possibly a
card reader, tripod, lens cleaner.
4. Tips
for taking better pictures.
Framing, Portraits, Landscapes, Close-ups, Night shots, Action.
5. The
computer.
Either
a PC (with Windows XP) or an Apple Macintosh.

6. Connecting camera to computer and downloading pictures.

Organising your picture album.
8. Showing your pictures.
9. Archiving (storing) your pictures.
10.Digital photo software.
Adobe
Photoshop, Jasc Paintshop Pro, Serif PhotoPlus.
11.The
Digital Darkroom.
Image correction – exposure/brightness, contrast, colour
correction, red-eye, sharpening, rotating.
Image editing – a more advanced study.
