Literature
What does the group
do? This group has been enjoying reading and
discussing books for a number of years.
In September each
member of the group nominates a book that they would like to read,
it may be a novel, biography or non-fiction, and the group convenor
makes up a varied list with one title for each month. During the
year copies of the month’s book are obtained from the library.
Then at each meeting the person who made that month’s selection
introduces the book by talking about the author’s life, and a lively
discussion of everyone’s opinion of the book follows. In the
second half of the meeting one of the group reads out loud a piece
of prose that they have chosen.
