Florence, a former
Primary School Teacher, was born in North London. After marriage
she lived in South London, Sussex, Cambridgeshire and French
Canada before moving to Littlehampton, where her last twelve years
of teaching were in a Littlehampton school.
After retirement Florence spent 12 years as a volunteer with
Littlehampton Citizens Advice Bureau, the last six as Social
Policy Co-ordinator. At the same time , and for the same number of
years, she worked as a volunteer in Littlehampton Musuem.
She is a former school governor of a Littlehampton primary school.
Florence is an active Quaker and a member of the Littlehampton
Quaker Meeting.
She has been a member
of Arun U3A since very early on, joining the Discussion Group when it used to
meet in Zachery Merton Hospital. She is still a member of that
group and also goes to one of the Book Groups, French Conversation
and a Play Reading Group.
She says U3A has
developed her social life enormously.
