Benefits for Senior Citizens

Notice of a free service from the Citizens' Advice Bureau.

Attendance Allowance is a tax free, non means-tested benefit for over 65s who may need some extra help caring for themselves. Perhaps you have an elderly relative or neighbour who could take advantage of this. We can help with the form filling that often puts people off applying.

Are you over 60 on a low income, or do you know someone who is? We are a

free confidential service within the Citizens Advice Bureau who give specialist advice on benefits. Call us to make an appointment at the Bureau or we can do home visits.

We cover Bognor Regis, Yapton, Arundel, Barnham, Eastergate, Aldingbourne,

Walberton and Slindon

More information: email  aba@jrmail.co.uk OR pensioncredit@jrmail.co.uk

OR phone 01243 866233 10am - 4pm and ask for Debbie or Madelaine.

Well Person Service

This FREE service is not a U3A facility but may be of interest to members.  It is run by Health Visitors once a month from Wick Information Centre and the Tamarisk Centre, Littlehampton.

It is not like going to the doctor or nurse for treatment for a particular condition - it is a holistic approach to WELL BEING. This includes good heating, healthy eating, managing medications, aids around the house, benefits and help with social inclusion. Blood pressure checks and if people bring in a urine specimen this can be tested for infections and sugar. The Health Visitors are pleasant and helpful and can spend at least 20 minutes per appointment, so there is plenty of time to chat over those things that are of concern.

The aim is to keep people independent for as long as possible in their own homes and in familiar surroundings and prevent early admission to hospital or residential homes.

For more information email: wickinfo@mail.com

or phone Kathy Smith on: 01903 734759.
