SURA Inter-U3A Workshops

This is a new enterprise organised by the Sussex U3A Network and is aimed at sharing ideas and experience between members of similar groups in different U3As throughout Sussex.

The first of these workshops is on Story Telling and will be held on Saturday, 27th February, 10.30am-3.30pm at Ringmer Village Hall.

This workshop is for both storytellers and beginners in which you can expect to feel inspired and challenged (but only as much as you choose; no-one will put you on the spot). The tutor is an experienced storyteller and workshop leader.

Several people will be going from Arun so there may be some help with transport.

For further information and application forms please contact Nova,  email novaabrookes@talktalk.net

Ann, our Regional Representative, or Nova would also like to know if you have any ideas for other topics for workshops later in the year or if you would be prepared to organise one.

ICE

If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there areAmbulance hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence the 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) Campaign. On the phone

All you need to do is store the number of the person who should be contacted during an emergency under the name 'ICE' ( In Case Of Emergency).

For more than one contact simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc.

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but no-one  knew which number to call. He thought it would be a good idea to have a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialling the number you have stored as 'ICE.'

A great idea that will make a difference!
